Kiln update…not exactly the one we were hoping for.

Last month I posted about a kiln issue I had. We had a misfire and discovered it was an issue with a burnt out element. We ordered a new element direct from the manufacturer and it arrived a few weeks later. They had to make the part and then send it out so it took longer than normal. When it arrived I realized my kiln had FOUR elements and I only ordered one. I know how Murphy’s Law goes, so I had my husband order the other three I’d need to replace. When he called the manufacturer of the kiln he also learned about a relay that should be replaced at the same time. One of those “while you’re in there you should fix it all so it doesn’t break again as soon as you try to use it” type of things. Now we’re in it for about $400 for all the elements and relays and shipping. I’m hoping the second round of parts arrive soon; this backlog of work to fire is beginning to cause me anxiety.
