Backlog of wares

I’ve been continuing to make things even with the kiln out-of-order at the moment. I’ve been focusing my time at the flea market toward demonstrating pottery techniques and talking about the basics rather than producing lots of inventory. I haven’t stopped production altogether, but I’ve slowed it significantly. I have no more space to safely pile my works awaiting firing. The kiln parts should arrive sometime this week, so I might be able to get the repairs done sometime next week.

I was blessed with a chance to better secure my booth at the flea market this weekend as my new neighbors built the framework of a wall during the Independence Day holiday week. I spent this weekend finishing that wall and making my booth more my own instead of adding to the backlog of wares that are now taunting me when I walk by.

I’ve got lots of “green ware” (unfired, dry, very delicate pottery) waiting in crates for the kiln to be ready for them to be bisque fired. I’ve also got a few crates of bisque ware waiting on glaze and then a second firing. Those are less delicate and therefore less concerning. I might work through the pile of items awaiting glaze and get them staged for a final firing before my parts arrive. Then, once I get the kiln all fixed up I can have a massive shop update with lots of new items and deals.
